THERE ARE NO GROUP CLASSES BEING SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN APRIL.
Our group dog training classes are offered for young adult dogs ages 6 months and up and will provide instruction suitable to prepare you for either the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test or get you ready to compete for the Beginners Novice title.
The instruction covers all of the Basic Obedience commands, including Heeling around distractions, sit and down stay, stand for examination and to come when called, with the intentions of preparing your dog to work off-leash.
These classes are designed to maximize your dogs’ learning experience and are an excellent vehicle to help you communicate effectively with your older puppy or young adult dog. Learn effective leash control around different distracting elements as well as other dogs. Successful completion of this course has liberated thousands of dogs from lives lived behind fences or the perpetuity of leash restraint. Many of Linda’s clients have gone on to successfully compete in American Kennel Club Obedience events, including Novice, Open, Utility and Rally.
Learn effective methods of controlling troublesome behavior through our group training class and earn the American Kennel Clubs’ Canine Good Citizen certificate at graduation, or prepare to compete for the A.K.C.’s Beginner Novice title. Enjoy a well-rounded pet that your family, friends and neighbors will admire!
Whether you are looking to solve some dog behavior problems at home or are interested in venturing into the show ring, our Beginners Dog Training Group classes are designed to facilitate your relationship with your dog while you learn to control him effectively in any environment!
The candidates for this class are 6 months of age or older and are not aggressive towards other dogs or people. Exuberance is expected, but it is believed that dogs who are truly aggressive be evaluated first before matriculating into a group dog training class. If you feel that your dog is aggressive towards people or other dogs, please call to schedule an evaluation before signing up for group classes.
The cost of our 10 week Beginners’ Group Dog Training Class is $200.00 per dog and pre-registry is required. All dogs are required to have up-to-date Rabies inoculation and owners will be expected to provide proof before participation. Group classes will be conducted in public forums after week 6 and individual owners will be held responsible for the control of their dog regarding their own safety and the safety of others at all times. Each training team will receive training to help prepare them for A.K.C. Beginner Novice or the A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen test, but participation in A.K.C. licensed events are paid by the owner to the show-giving entity.
Please check back after April 1st, 2013 for the spring/summer schedule.
* First night of class is orientation and is without dogs. There are 9 working weeks and on graduation night a Canine Good Citizen test will be conducted by a Certified Evaluator.
**Any dog can benefit from training, these classes are designed for older puppies and adolescent dogs of every breed who have never had training.
***We do not exclude dogs for temperament issues, rather these are the dogs we most want to reach! However in order to mitigate safety of other participants and their dogs, we require in-person evaluations of dogs considered aggressive before allowed to participate. We do offer private training before matriculating into a group class and suggest if you are unsure whether a group dog training class may be right for you to contact us and set up an appointment for an evaluation.
