Scheduling appointments for private lessons:

Lionheart K9 schedules appointments for private lessons at 90 minute intervals throughout our hours of operation. If appointments must be cancelled, please give notice within 24 hours. Please be respectful of our time. Every opportunity is provided to give adequate attention to all of our students and promptness is appreciated. It also assures that our students will be afforded an appropriate amount of time with which to practice their skills.

Calls to cancel and/or reschedule are appreciated and required. If an appointment is scheduled and there is a risk of being more than 15 minutes late, there is a real possibility that  the “late” appointment will be shortened in order to accommodate appointments that are scheduled immediately after. If arrival for a scheduled appointment is in excess of 30 minutes after the appointment time, there is a substantial risk that the appointment will be cancelled in deference to other commitments.

If a scheduled appointment is missed entirely, without notification, it will be the student’s responsibility to reschedule. If subsequent appointments are missed without appropriate notification, it will terminate any and all training agreements.

Scheduling for Boarding and Training pick-up and “going home” lesson:

The same rules apply for Boarding and Training pick up and delivery as they do for private training appointments.

Lionheart K9 schedules appointments for Boarding and Training pick-up and going home lessons for approximately 2 hours on the date of scheduled departure. If appointments must be rescheduled or cancelled, please give notice within 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Please be respectful of our time. Every opportunity is provided to give adequate attention to all of our students and promptness is appreciated. It also assures that our students will be afforded an appropriate amount of time with which to practice their skills before their dogs go home.

Calls to cancel and/or reschedule are appreciated and required. If an appointment is scheduled and there is a risk of being more than 30 minutes late, there is a real possibility that  the “late” appointment will be shortened in order to accommodate appointments that are scheduled immediately after. If arrival for a scheduled appointment is in excess of 45 minutes after the appointment time, there is a substantial risk that the appointment will be cancelled in deference to other commitments.

In accordance with any of the residency boarding and training agreements, owners must participate in a minimum of two (2) training sessions in order to establish a functional understanding on how to acquire the skills their dog has been taught while enrolled in the residency program. If this requirement has not been met within the allotted time frame outlined by the training agreement, it is the OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY to schedule appointments for follow-up after the completion of the residency program. Failure to participate in the basic requirements of the residency agreement invites a potential risk of issues arising once the dog is returned home.

The owner-handling lessons can be scheduled at any time throughout the training program, but the final lesson is necessary in order to address questions, handling, and discussion regarding the training once the dog is returned to the owner or principal handler. The same scheduling policies apply for the final lesson. When scheduling the final lesson, please be prepared to work your dog for a minimum of 45 minutes. Temperature-appropriate dress is required. Please, no heels or open-toe shoes.

Scheduling the pick up time and date must occur prior to the term date of the residency agreement. For example; if the term date is January 15th, the final lesson and departure can be scheduled for the 15th, but arrangements must be made prior to the 15th.

It is the owners’ responsibility to schedule any and all pick-up appointments and final lessons. Failure to pick up a dog on the scheduled date and time will incur additional charges of 35.00 per day providing an alternative date and time has been agreed upon, and 55.00 a day if there is no notification of  schedule change or “no-shows”.

Dogs left 10 days or more beyond their scheduled departure date can be seized under the Maryland Commercial Law Annotated Code 16-701 (2011) Under Statutory Liens and Personal Property (Title 16) as it applies to Veterinarians and Commercial Boarding Kennel operator’s rights (subtitle 7).

Scheduling an Evaluation and Demonstration:

Evaluations and Demonstrations are by appointment only and are restricted to business hours. They are subject to the same policies and procedures that are in place for any other scheduled appointment. Although the principle focus is to behaviorally asses the dog and determine a relevant course of action, the evaluation and demonstration is always informative and owners are provided with constructive plans of action that will help them manage their dog appropriately and immediately. Fees for demonstrations and evaluations will be deducted from the cost of any paid residency board and train program the dog is enrolled in, or will act as the first paid lesson of any paid private training program the dog is enrolled in.

Housekeeping rules:

Upon arrival, please do not park behind or in front of any vehicles. Parking is limited but available, and cooperation is necessary to avoid traffic problems.

All visitors are required to use receptacles to dispose of their trash. Although smoking is allowed outdoors, please extinguish your tobacco and dispose of it in the appropriate receptacle.

Please do not permit dogs to relieve themselves on our automobiles, buildings or training equipment. There are specific areas designated for dogs to relieve themselves, and our personal property is not subject to inclusion as your pets’ personal toilet due to the inattention of the handler or the caprice of the dog. When exiting your vehicle, your dog can make use of any number of trees, pillars and posts to relieve himself.

This is a licensed, insured, place of business. It is also our private residence. Please be respectful of our time and our property.
